Directions for artwork matters

Herewith you find our directions for providing files for printing matters. To achieve a final result that meets with the customers expectation, providing of files in a proper way are highly important. Therefore we listed a number of conditions for the proper way of providing files for printing matters.
We can process an order well, quickly, efficiently and guarantee the best quality if all files meet with the directions below.

Digital files

Our manufacturers use the next Adobe software intensively:

  • Adobe InDesign CS5
  • Adobe Photoshop CS5
  • Adobe Illustrator CS5
  • Adobe Acrobat Professional

The file does not have to be made with this software but it has to be possible to open the files provided with the software mentioned above. So called EPS- and vector files can almost always be processed without difficulties. If you export these files from other software than probably the files cannot be used anymore.
Not every software is able to generate a decent EPS file.
Microsoft Word and Excel e.g. are not suitable for this purpose.
Logo’s, illustrations and pictures which are copied in Microsoft Word should be provided as separate files. If you use different software as mentioned, please contact us to consult together in what way you can provide the files at the best.
Name your files after the project concerned for the right references.

Footage

When using bitmap footage (pictures, illustrations, scans etc.) not only resolution is important but also the size. Footage in printing matters of the life-size should have a resolution of 250 dpi at the least, because those are bitmap footages. The higher the final resolution, the better the quality of the footage. The best resolution of the footage in life-size is 250 till 300 dpi. Footage with a lower resolution of life-size printing matter cannot be used!

Usable files

In general providing footage is quite simple. These file formats we can process without complications:

  • JPEG (minimum quality: 8 High)
  • TIFF (Mac, no LZW compression)
  • PICT
  • PSD
  • Photoshop EPS

Colours

Full colour artwork will  be transformed into CMYK. Should it be printed in supporting colours than please mention this clearly.
Colours can be referred to as Pantone (PMS) or full colour (CMYK).
Provide original files as you have received them from a designer, photographer or printing-office. All pictures, logo’s illustration and typefaces to be printed, should be provided separately.
Footage from the internet has a resolution of 72 dpi and does not meet with the demands of printing matters.
Software such as Microsoft Word, Excel or Powerpoint are not suitable to make or provide footage. As mentioned before, those files should be provided separately.

Text

Text can be provided as mentioned below:

  • Microsoft Word text files
  • Microsoft Excel (schedules)

Provided text files will be converted into straight text to avoid format problems. The entire lay-out will be deleted from the files when converted. The lay-out will afterwards be copied by graphic lay-out software and the provided text files will only be used as reference. Always provide us with a PDF-file that shows us the lay-out as desired.
Carefully read all text before you provide us with them or have an automatic spell checker do the job for you. Alterations in already made up files is needless expensive.

The lay-out should be provided on the die-cut drawings provided by us.

Files formats

Files can be delivered with all known possibilities such as USB-stick, external hard drive, via e-mail our through a cloud service. The size of the files that can be provided by e-mail depends on your e-mail provider. Many providers have a certain limit. In case you provide us with compressed files (zip, rar or 7z), your files must be open (no password).

Providing massive files

We recommend WeTransfer for providing of massive files. This service is without charges and registration, thus easy in use.
